Progress

Today the crew really went to work and almost finished all of the 'stud framing' of the building,

They were able to complete the floor of the loft ,

next they will put the insulation in the 'stud' walls and put a layer of 5/8 sheetrock on the outside under the metal siding.

The difference between the 'stud' walls and the front 'girt' wall is the need for a one-hour firewall on the three walls, so the front of the building will be 'Girt' style.
The West, North and East walls require the Firewalls.

Bak to Work

Today the crew showed up and returned to work on the building and they almost completed framing the entire first floor.
They also started to set the joists for the loft.
So now the race is on to beat the weather and get the outside of the building done.

A Week Off

Well we had a week off, Parker Building should be back on Monday to finish the building, but in the meantime we went to Surf City Week-end at Chinook Winds. Friday we took our "Work In Progress" (our 1966 Ford F-100) to the show, and set up our trailer up at Logan Road RV Park.
On Saturday there was a Classic Car Auction for the first time in Lincoln City, there were over 50 cars there for the auction.
Meanwhile in the main parking lot there were over 300 cars that showed up for the show.
After spending the night on Friday in our trailer on Saturday morning we traded the pick-up for the Ranchero.
Saturday night went went to the Beach Boys concert with Stephanie's brother and sister-in-law then slept in our trailer again. Sunday we had to check-out and it was raining so we just pulled out and went home to watch FootBall.
All this week we have just putts around waiting for Monday when we get busy again on the building.
Rosie can hardly wait, she is eager to get inside and start doing her THING.

We Have A Floor

This morning the concrete crew showed up at 7:30 a.m. with pumper right behind them.
They where pouring by 8:15.
The weather was co-operating and things went smoothly with the pour.
Of course once the concrete was on the ground thats when the work really starts.
So now we wait until Parkers crew can come back down which was supposed to be Monday, but Matt said the crew may be held up a day or two :-(,
But at least the Floor is there.

Tubing

Yesterday Radiant Pro showed up and laid down the tubing for our heating system,
everything is in place now for an inspection which should take place on Monday.
Meanwhile there has been a little wind and a section of the roof's moisture barrier has come apart.

Getting it Done

It is such a joy to have responsible professionals that show up to do a job and then go the extra step to work with each other to head off any problems that may arise between them. Today the plumber showed up to do the 'underground' necessary for the concrete floor to be poured.
Also the contractor for the concrete was there to set his forms and make sure the final grade was right, which was quite a job because of the way the post hole driller left things.
But by the end of the day it was set right and things are in place for the Radiant heat contractor to come in and place the PEX tubing that will be our heat source for this building.
So at the end of the day we get to leave and say Job well done.

Taking a Break.

Today I kind of took a break form the Building and thought while there was the lift there I would take advantage of it and take down the non-working lights over the MuralThe lights have not been working for a while and we decided to take them down rather than hire an electrician to try and fix them.
It was a good decision, almost every screw that I tried to remove Broke, the aluminum housing where corroded so much that they had seized the stainless steel screws and the connection for the electric was so brittle it fell apart just at my touch.
So now they are gone and the next time we are in town we will look for a couple of outside lights hopefully with Plastic housings.
I thought that I would check the Electric Box because it didn't look level and seeing as how it will be in the concrete floor of my Shop, it needs to be level. It wasn't, evidently the hole driller got a little close to it.

So I leveled it again and covered it with duct tape for the Concrete on Monday :-)

The Roofs Done :-)

When I arrived at work this morning the crew was putting the finishing touches on the Roof.
So then they were going to start putting up sheetrock on the ceiling, but the man-lift won't run right.
So while they were waiting for the mechanic to fix the lift they started framing the south wall where all of the doors and windows will be. From West to East it is Man door, Window, Man door, Window, Window,
Overhead door, Overhead door.
By the time the lift was fixed it was too late in the day to start horsing the sheetrock up in the ceiling so the crew called it quits, and packed up and left for a week, they should be back on September 15th after the concrete floor has been poured.
Meanwhile the WildWoman is ready to move in :-)

Starting the Roof

Well today they started on the Roof, the breeze was giving them some worries but they were able to get the first section up and that is the hardest part.

Even installing the moisture barrier ( they won't refer to it as insulation) wasn't as hard as they thought it might be. Tomorrow they will finish the roof and do the sheetrock underneath that needs to be done, then they will pull out and wait for the floor to be done, before coming back to put up the walls.

X-ray Building

Now the building looks like it was X-rayed.
They have to do the eves a little different.

The Wildwoman has already laid claim to the scrap pieces of wood.

Parker Building says they'll have the roof on when they leave on Friday or they will stay over and finish on Saturday. Then Monday Carl the concrete guy will be here to setup the pour, Tuesday Radiant Pro and Button will need to put in their piping and Carl wants to pour on Wednesday.

Its Alive !!!!!!!!!!!!

Today it has Finally Begun :-)
Parker Buildings Crew showed up this morning and went right to work setting the Poles.
They quickly had all the poles in place and set about putting them right,

They then braced them and poured concrete into the holes.

Tomorrow they will start putting the roof on and they say that they will be done with the roof on Friday. Starting on Monday of next week we should be well under way with the concrete and plumbing.

Let the Games Begin!!

Well over the week-end we went to the Aquarium car show in Newport.
Always a fun show to attend, this year the weather was perfect on Saturday and we set up or baby fifth wheel behind the F-100.

After the show on Saturday we moved the trailer across the street to an RV park because we knew that we would not be able to leave early on Sunday like we wanted to.
Well saturday night was fun, but between the Sea Lions and the rain on the roof we didn't get much sleep. Sunday morning we went to a restaurant in Newport that we had won a gift certificate to but after waiting for the place to open and being told to move out of the way by one of the people that work there we gave our coupon to the couple behind us and went to Shirley's were we've always gotten good food and good service and as it turned out the price was lower.
After breakfast we went to the Aquarium for a little while then we packed up and came home so that we could go out to Tamara's "END OF SUMMER" picnic. It was a blast and the kids got to throw pies (whipped cream) at each other, but we were fading fast so we went home and got some rest.
Monday we came to work and filled in the water pipe trench and got ready for the builders to show up on Tuesday.
