It's Been A While.

Well I made it back from my vacation, Rosie and I are taking separate holidays this year. I went to Whistler BC with about 85 other classic street rods. 1,546 miles later I made it home, had a great time, my buddy Vince made the trip in his 63 Galaxie Convertible with out any problems also, other than the day it rained, in Hope, BC, he had to finally put the top up. I got almost 24 mpg in the Ranchero :-).
When I got back it was time to get rid of the only gas guzzler we owned and trade it in for a small economy car, we got a 2007 Toyota Yaris, which gets almost twice the milage of the 2000 Ford Windstar we traded in.
Tomorrow we have an antique car show in Toledo, and in September we will be to shows every weekend.

The weather has turned nice which is a real blessing because we have to work outside for the next couple of days. I find it frustrating at times that it is so difficult living where we do that some of the simplest supplies (roller chain, for our gate; O-Rings, for our cars ) are not readily available, and service people seem to be inconsistent.

Week-end Over

Well the "Week-end" is over and I have the Ranchero all apart waiting for pieces ( the joys of living in a remote area). We had a fantastic Service sunday in South Beach, the first time in over a month we actually were able to listen to the pastor speak. We start this week on changes at the store, moving the fence and reversing the gate, to get ready for the major change when our house sells.
Hopefully I can get the Ranchero fixed for the Car Show this coming week end in Sherwood, if not we will just take the convertible.

Well now the Ranchero is having another problem with the third member and I should have fixed it the last time I had it out. So now I have to take it apart again and the Car Show season is almost upon us. Oh the joys of owning 40 year old cars :-(

Last night I got a call to take my son in for his Chemo, so plans change for today. This is the local trip (less then 20 mi.), Some times he has to go to Portland (85 mi.) or Corvallis (65 mi.). My Son (32 yrs. old) was diagnosed with bone-cancer over a year ago and underwent Chemo and surgery then, and just recently was diagnosed with lung-cancer (related to the type of bone-cancer he had), again more surgery and more Chemo.

Yesterday was wonderful, not only did I drive the convertible but there was that divine show in the sky.

Sun Rings today
Today the weather is beautiful on the coast and I was able to spend time over the holidays (Memorial Day) with loved ones and work on our cars ( my wife and I have a couple of 1966 cars, a Falcon Ranchero that is my primary transportation and a Dart GT Convertible that is the "Good Weather" car ("if it's not raining the top is down"("NATIVE OREGONIAN")))
